The Allison Ethier diaries
8th Feb 04
It is 3 weeks before the Arnold and my training is not going as well as I had hoped. I find it really hard to do the 'diet' when I am not training for the show. Although I don't have much weight to loose, probably about 3 lbs.. or so.. I find that it takes a lot of time to loose it. Especially since I am not practicing my routine right now, and I find that this type of practice makes the weight coming off much easier. It is a harder, more interval involved type of cardio which my body seems to respond well to.

I am attending the Arnold to smooze a bit and work for Oxygen/Musclemag and it is a great opportunity to really see the big pros in person. Every week I make small changes in diet and in my training but I am finding staying away from breads, yoghurt peanuts and diet coke to be my downfall. Also the weekends when I have less to organize or plan, and time on my hands makes me reach for foods I would normally stay away from.

I will be making more of a plan today and follow it through for the next week, and then see how much I have progressed. I find if I write things down they are more likely to be accomplished. Mostly I plan my workouts in my head, as I have been doing this for a while now, but mentally I feel as though I am in a rut and will be looking at some of my exercises and how to spice them up a bit for the next few weeks. My cardio also seems to be very consistent, but when the night hits I do have a tendency to want to eat in the evening after 7:30pm or so. I go to bed early so this is not really feasible I just have to remind myself of the ultimate goal and try to strive to eat cleanly on a daily basis. Treats are saved usually for the weekends.

Fitness Canada is a little more than 3 months away so I will be dieting more strict for this show. I find that Fitness Canada likes the competitors to be a little leaner than in the US - Fitness America.

I am also setting another goal of doing more photoshoots this year. Perhaps I have missed out on opportunities for exposure, but when you are teacher and your students are watching, one has to consider the overall impact. Not just on the students, but their parent's and my administration.

I do enjoy the spotlight of the shoots, and would like to start making money off my image. I hope to have a gallery section on my website where you can purchase images. This will also help out with costs of competing.

Until next week,

Allison Ethier
