Total Gym Reviews and Testimonials
What do users have to say about these home gyms?
Here's a recent testimonial from one of our visitors sent in response to our Total Gym reviews:
I bought mine about 2 or just over two years ago. I worked out with free weights for years. Before I bought my Total Gym I was having a lot of shoulder problems. I learned I had a bone spur in my left shoulder and I have bursitis and tendonitis.
In the early 90s I was paid a small fee along with several others to give my opinion on home gyms. Total Gym and Bow Flex were two of the choices. At that time I was totally into free weights. I was not impressed with either one.
Before I bought my Total Gym I went to Sears and tried their Total Gym. Cut down version from the one I bought. I was not impressed and didn't think it would be very good for muscle building. I was wrong.
I didn't really give it a chance in the early 90s and at Sears. At Sears I tried it out for a couple of minutes, people were coming and going and I didn't want to be on it while others passed by. I bought it with hope it would help with stretching and flexibility, with hope it would help my shoulders. I thought I would work out with the Total Gym on their trial offer and if I didn't like it send it back.
I also planned on working out with free weights along with the Total Gym XL.
Before I purchased the Total Gym, for some time I was having a lot of pain in my left shoulder and bursitis, tendonitis in both shoulders. I was afraid I would have to give up weight lifting. I was constantly holding my left shoulder throughout the day and night time while in bed, I would toss and turn all night with pain in my left shoulder.

When I would bench press I had a lot of pain in my left shoulder. After a few reps the pain was better and I would finish my work out. But I suffered all day and in bed. I didn't want surgery and I didn't want to stop working out with weights either. I tried taking it easy on my left shoulder, I tried many things to help my shoulders. When I started working out with my total gym XL I don't remember how long I had been working out on it, when I totally gave up free weights and worked out exclusively with the total gym.
Your reviews didn't think you can benefit as much with the Total Gym as you can with weight machines. That is just not true, I have a very muscular build. I have just as good of a build if not better than when I worked out with free weights. With the Total Gym XL you can add weights onto it to increase the resistance and that is what I have done.
Free weights and weight machines put a lot of stress on your joints and the Total Gym puts much less stress on my joints and has done me a world of good. Have your people that did the review try the Total Gym out for a time, not a day or a week but for some time and add weights to it. No matter if it is weight machines, Total Gym, bow flex, you get what you put in to it.
The Total Gym also saves me lots of time. Everything Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley say about it is true. As far as putting 10 or 20 minutes a day is going to give a muscular build, no that won't happen. I had a buffed muscular look before I bought the Total Gym and still do and maybe even better, because it saves me a lot of time and I get a total work out in no time.
I believe that the Total Gym XL is the best all around home gym you could possibly own. So your people that did those reviews on the Total Gym are right. If you want to be trim and fit on the Total Gym you can, you want to do Pilates you can, you want a body builders shape or muscular buffed shape you can.
Total Gym's customer service has been excellent in handling any problems I have had. Also the payment plan is excellent. No interest and monthly payments. I paid for the Total Gym using my bank debit visa card. They took the money from my bank account. Bow Flex doesn't do that or I may own one now. I think for anyone any age, can and will benefit from the total gym as I have. I am very happy with my build.
The Total Gym may take a little time to get use to using it, but once a person learns it is very easy and no problem. I love mine more than any other type of work out I have ever done. I work out on the Total Gym XL every other day and I do aerobics on my treadmill or elliptical machine every day. For the shape I have people think I put much more time in to my work outs then I do.
The total gym saves a lot of time.
