The Bowflex Ultimate is one of the best-selling models of this popular home gym, and the new version, called the Ultimate 2, improves upon the original.Bowflex ultimate 2 review

By now we’ve all seen the commercials for Bowflex, featuring incredibly sculpted men and women doing various exercises on the machine and talking about how they have achieved excellent results using the equipment.

Rather than the typical weight stack or removable plates, the Bowflex Ultimate and other models employ power rods hooked up to a pulley system which provides resistance. The weight varies from 5 to 301 pounds, and you can do about 80 or so different exercises.

Included with the purchase of the Ultimate is a reference poster, a manual and a DVD or video. There are also various attachments you can purchase and an upgrade to add incorporate weight.

Bowflex Ultimate 2 Review – So What’s New?

The Bowflex Ultimate 2 is simply an updated version of the original, with some attractive new features that make it quite appealing.

Perhaps the most welcome change is the fact that some of the attachments that were options on the original Ultimate are now standard on the new model. One of those attachments is the lat tower which you can use to work your back muscles. It was a couple hundred dollars extra, now it’s included.

Our Bowflex Ultimate reviews also found that the 2 also comes with a leg attachment, another option on the original. This allows you to target all areas of the legs, including your quads and hamstrings. Now you have no excuse to skip leg day.

Some other new additions include a preacher curl bench, which is great for isolating the biceps, an additional video, and the ability to do another 10 exercises, for a total of 90 altogether. The equipment is larger than its predecessor and comes with an additional 2 years on the warranty.

Fitness Events Opinion & Recommendation:

If you’re a fan of these home gyms in general, then the Bowflex Ultimate 2 is definitely for you. It improves on the previous model significantly, with attachments that were previously an additional few hundred each now standard. That’s a big plus.

For those used to working out in a gym, with dumbells, barbells, and weight stacks, these machines do take some getting used to. It’s an entirely different workout, and it will probably take some time before you feel comfortable doing the various exercises. However, once you use the Bowflex Ultimate for a while, you’ll find it does provide a very solid workout, and you can target all muscle groups effectively.

We like the fact that they are extending the warranty, and that you can do more exercises than before. It also has more to offer than the other popular model, the Revolution. Overall, we’d say the Bowflex Ultimate 2 is a smart purchase for those who want a high-quality home gym.
